To get the most out of your shoot here are a few tips for you and your pet.
For the pets: Take your pet for a walk and get some exercise before the shoot, especially for the younger ones. This will help your pet be more relaxed during the session. I also recommend allowing a little bit of time for your pet to cool down and catch their breath before we meet.
For the humans: If you are going to be in some of the photos, wear something that doesn’t match your pets coat to closely. Solid colors generally work better than patterns and stripes. And if more than one person is going to be in the photos, coordinate your outfits. It’s not necessary to match, keep it simple, jeans with solid color tops work well.
The Shoot and how it works: Whether we’re meeting at your house or your favorite spot or the studio remember to relax and have fun! Your pet will feed off of your energy and follow your lead. If we’re meeting outside make sure to bring familiar toys and a few treats. Most often we’ll spend about an hour together and the first few minutes will be a time for everyone to get acquainted. After we all get to know each other a little I’ll be able to help direct the action based on what you are looking for and the energy level of your pet. And don’t worry, if we need to ‘take five’ to regroup it’s all part of it!
